Revisiting the nation in post-war modernist literature [Call for papers]

Contributions are invited for a seminar titled “Revisiting the nation in post-war modernist literature”, which will be part of the 2014 ESSE conference (29 August – 2 September 2014, Košice, Slovakia). As stated by the seminar convenors:

The aim of this seminar is to explore the concept of nation, subsequent and adjacent constructions of identity and, more generally, whatever is related from this perspective to the modernist literature of the post-war period. Therefore, the seminar sets out to look into national identity as a form of collective identity and give an answer to the question about what we make of the group, of the whole, of the collective, of the nation in a period when the individual less than the group is more and more placed in the centre of attention.

Proposals for papers should contain the author’s name and surname, affiliation, one email address, and an abstract of the paper (200 words max.), and should indicate what, if any, special equipment, is required (all rooms will be equipped with a computer and projector). Proposals are to be emailed directly to the seminar convenors:

  • Armela Panajoti (University of Vlora “Ismail Qemali”, Albania): armelap[at]assenglish[dot]org
  • Adrian Radu (“Babes-Bolyai” University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania): adrian.radu[at]ubbcluj[dot]ro

The deadline for submissions is 31 March 2014. Notification of acceptance will be given by 15 April 2014.
