The 6th Junior Researcher Meeting in Applied Linguistics

12-14 May 2014, Jyväskylä (Finland)

The 6th Junior Researcher Meeting in Applied Linguistics is a conference primarily aimed at early career applied linguists (students working on their MA theses, doctoral researchers, or researchers who have graduated in the last three years). It will coincide with the 15th Spring School of Language Studies, a recurring event which has been organized the University of Jyväskylä since 1996. In addition to opportunities to present and discuss their research, delegates will have the opportunity to attend workshops on academic professional development, with topics that include publishing and applying for funding.

  • Dr Sari Sulkunen (University of Jyväskylä)
  • Dr Maria Ruohotie-Lyhty (University of Jyväskylä)

Call for Papers

Papers are invited on aspects of first and second/foreign language learning and teaching, as well as other areas of applied linguistics. Papers reporting on work in progress are also welcome. Interested participants are asked to submit a 350-word abstract using the following link (NB At the time of writing, the link directed to the conference website, where one assumes that the Electronic Submission System will be activated soon):

  • Submission opens: 15 October 2013
  • Submission deadline:  29 November 2013
  • Notification for acceptance: 31 January 2014
  • Early bird registration deadline: 31 March 2014
